I'm In Love...With Facebook

Thursday, September 24 |

Facebook uploaded by _Max-B on Flickr

After being harassed by hubby, for years..., I finally decided to give Facebook a try. This was not my first time so I have a couple of sorry profiles that remain abandoned. So many people loved Facebook but I just did not get it...It was a boring, a waste of time, and only encouraged people to be self indulgent... Are you so important that you have to announce to the world that you are now drinking coffee and will soon be taking a shower so that you can walk your dog? That's what I use to think about Facebook and I did not want any part of it...

But for the sake of encouraging my true love blogging, I mean my husband, I decided to give it a try. This time took and now I'm hooked...  Now that I have more narcissism practice under my belt, ...via Love, Lust and Life..., I don't mind updating my status to let the world know that I have updated the blog or that I like this photograph. I had no idea that through the application you are able able to customize Facebook and focus on the things that you like to do. Now I take a lot of joy watching my number friends and fans grow. Facebook a great way to get more blog followers and introduces me to a lot of cool info, pictures and links because of my friends updated status.

And if that was not enough I just joined Friend Feed....I must warn you that Friend Feed is equally as addictive as Facebook, but I would still recommend giving it. Friend Feed has many application that keep you connected to Twitter and Facebook so that you can...(clears throat in order to sound convincing)...spend less time on the social networks...When I stumbled upon the site and I had no clue but because of my Twitter experience I found it easy to catch on and it was love at first site (lol, get it!?!...site not  sight never mind!). Since I am technologically challenged I copied Wikipedia's definition to explain what Friend Feed is all about:

FriendFeed is a real-time feed aggregator that consolidates the updates from social media and social networking websites, social bookmarking websites, blogs and micro-blogging updates, as well as any other type of RSS/ Atom feed. It is possible to use this stream of information to create customized feeds to share, as well as originate new posts-discussions, (and comment) with friends.[1] The goal of FriendFeed according to their website is to make content on the Web more relevant and useful by using existing social network as a tool for discovering interesting information. Users can be an individual, business or organization. Bloggers writing about FriendFeed have said that this service addresses the shortcomings of social media services which exclusively facilitate tracking of their own members' social media activities on that particular social media service, whereas FriendFeed provides the facility to track these activities (such as posting on blogsTwitter and Flickr) across a broad range of different social networks.

So if you become a Facebook friend, a Love, Lust and Life fan, a Twitter follower or a Friend Feed subscriber please contact me and let me now so that I can return the favor.

  • Read ahead- Prepare for class by staying ahead of the lesson plan. Read and practice pronunciation for each corresponding lesson just before class.
  • Find a study buddy- Form a study group or find a study partner to help you practice dialogue and to quiz each other.
  • Figure out Your Motivation- Ask yourself why you want to learn a new language?Having a good motivation will help you to work hard.
  • Learn One Concept At A Time- Make sure you learn each concept thoroughly before moving on to the next one.
  • Supplement Your Textbook- If you had trouble with a concept go to the library and get a books, CD, or DVD to help with your studies.

Stay Motivated

Thursday, May 28 |

Last week I published the article bellow sharing a few motivation tips. Staying Motivated is the full article on TCB Thursday. In it I share how to use these tips effectively. Please visit the links above and let me know if you find it helpful.

Staying motivated is a skill that ever ones needs but most people don't consciously develop it. Some people have a natural optimistic spirit, believing that you can accomplish anything you focus on, and they except nothing but the best. Still many hard working people get down and feel like life has dealt them a bad hand and they are often tempted to throw in the towel when it looks like they will never get what they are working for.

Discouragement happens to the best of them, so instead of trying to avoid it just learn to plan for it. The antidote for discouragement is encouragement. So before you become overwhelmed by the the feeling that your goals, dreams, desires or needs are unobtainable get together a plan of encouragement, or a staying motivated plan. Here are some helpful tips when you have a goal that you are working towards:

1) Just Do It- Erase the word "try" from your vocab. Instead make a commit to work hard.

2)What's you motivation- Why do you want what you want; this will bring perseverance.

3)Count the cost- What sacrifices and what resources will you need to get what you want?

4)Support group- Create a environment for success: mentors, cheerleaders, and inspiration.

5)Get a vision- Dreams can take your goals to infinity and beyond; shoot for the stars.

If you have time please what the video bellow. It articulates the problems and solutions of achieving difficult goals. Its analytical in nature but with practical tips that I love.

Do you have problems staying motivated? If so then why? What do you do, think or say to keep yourself going when you start to feeling hopeless and/or defeated?

A little morning inspiration to get you on the right foot.

Share your success. Tell us what have you done lately that you are really proud of. Big or small it doesn't matter, just share your victories it encourages others.

A Dummy in Distress

Friday, May 1 |

I hate when people are mean to each. On LL&L you won't see name calling, but you will see me attempt debunk harmful ideologies, starting with my own. For instances the damsel in distress is supposed to be a fantastical story that most people secretly want to live out at least once in their lifetime. You may take turns being the victim or the hero, at least I do, but without even recognizing that you are just playing a role. Is noticing someone who does not have a clue how to save themselves intriguing and romantic or is it just annoying and costly.

This week I had computer troubles once again, and like any good damsel I went running to my husband to fix it. I would like to think of myself as a professional blogger but I don't know that much about computers so I have been comfortable letting my big strong man fix it for me. The problem is he has responsibilities of his own; he is busy, overwhelmed and feels like he needs help with his business. The difference is he knows how to accomplish most of his tasks but doesn't have enough hands to do it all. My blog, while I want it to be larger than life, is actually quite manageable for one person. The problem is I don't know how to get or maintain technical thingies like rss feeds, FavIcons, and computer security. I think somewhere inside I think that it is cute or at least or okay to not know a lot about computers. I'm learning quickly that is not true, the more I don't know the more it will cost me in one way or another.

LL&L is also about giving grace freely. I don't know a lot about computers, blogging or even writing, but now I'm committed to learning. It may take a while to catch up but I'm on the right path, finally. In the meantime I will ask for help (tutoring) and read whatever I can get my hands on, and I will be okay with laughing at myself.

Why mechanics love woman

What do you think about the damsel distress stereotype? Why are woman more susceptible to playing dumb (or are they)? What is something that you have put off learning and why?

My Money Secret

"The law of attraction is the belief that whatever you think about in life you will attract. If you want to be rich and successful, think about what you want in detail, imagine what it will look like when you have it and believe that it is already yours. That is what I learned watching the video called The Secret . I was introduced to The Secret through the Oprah Show and felt really hopeful, that it could be the key to my success..."
